Gothangao Gate

  • Gothangaon Gate is considered the most popular entry point to the sanctuary because it is closer to Nagpur and has better infrastructure compared to other gates.

  • It is located around 60–65 km from Nagpur city, making it a perfect day trip option for tourists.

  • This gate provides entry to the core area of the sanctuary, which has a good track record of tiger and leopard sightings.

๐ŸŸข Who is F2?

  • F2 is a well-known tigress of the Umred–Karhandla–Pauni landscape.

  • She is part of the lineage of “Jai”, the legendary male tiger who once ruled these forests.

  • F2 has played a crucial role in sustaining the tiger population in this sanctuary.

๐ŸŸข F2 and Her Cubs

  • Over the past few years, F2 has been sighted with her litters, raising cubs successfully in the Gothangaon–Karhandla belt.

  • Tourists entering from Gothangaon Gate and Karhandla Gate often report tiger sightings of F2 and her cubs along water bodies, meadows, and forest patches.

  • Her cubs are usually seen following her closely — playing, learning hunting skills, or resting in shade.

  • This family has become a big attraction for safari visitors, as tiger sightings increase when tigresses raise cubs.

๐ŸŸข Why They Are Important

  • Conservation Significance: Each successful litter ensures the continuity of tiger population in the sanctuary.

  • Tourism Impact: F2 and her cubs have boosted tourism at Gothangaon and Karhandla gates because families of tigers are easier to spot compared to solitary males.

  • Ecological Balance: As apex predators, they play a key role in maintaining the balance of herbivore populations like deer and wild boar.

๐ŸŸข Best Chance to See F2 and Cubs

  • Gothangaon Gate and Karhandla Gate are prime zones for their sightings.

  • Morning safaris give higher chances, as tigers are more active before it gets hot.

  • Look near water bodies, nullahs, and meadows — F2 is often spotted cooling off with her cubs.

๐Ÿ“ธ If you’re visiting this season (from 1st October 2024 onwards), keep your camera ready — F2 and her cubs are among the star attractions of Umred Karhandla!
